Causes

When extra mucus block the airways in the lungs, the airways become narrow and we found it difficult to breathe properly. This is one of the most common pulmonary arterial case. In cold weather it gets worse, because as much time air is dry, the fluid present in our airways gets evaporated so fast that it doesn’t get the time to replace and airways become dry. Now dry airways cause irritation as well as dry coughing as well as shortness in breathing.

Asthma can’t be fully cured but its symptoms can be controlled by proper medications or by adopting some particular self care.

Symptoms

Asthma symptoms are very common and not a big deal

  1. Shortness in breathing:
  2. Wheezing
  3. Frequent coughing
  4. Headache
  5. Poor appetite
  6. Tightness in chest
  7. Feeling very tired easily
  8. Trouble sleeping
  9. Changes in lung-function
  10. Pale sweaty face

These symptoms are not long lasting accept the cough. You’ll notice the other symptoms of Asthma is not lasting more than 4-5 minutes. But it’s not that after 4-5 minutes they will return again. Especially if you have an asthma attack again and again the frequency of these symptoms will increase.

If any of you’ll suffer from asthma it’s not mandatory that your symptoms will be the same or you may have completely different symptoms at different times or some of you may spend a lot of time with asthma without having the symptoms.

A link has been found between poor appetite and asthma. Poor appetite is basically a signal that the asthma is not well controlled.

Poor appetite and asthma

Asthma has a very mild effect on your appetite. Children who are suffering from asthma and taking oral steroids, eats double than usual. Some people who are suffering from asthma but didn’t control asthma sufficiently, finds so hard to breathe that it becomes difficult for them to eat properly. The best thing they can do is eat small amount of meals all day.

These things affect the stomach but not very strongly. But asthma can be controlled with a perfect metabolism rate which can only happen if you have a healthy stomach.

Effects of metabolism rate on asthma

Metabolism is the number of calories your body burns. And the higher your heart rate the more calories will burn. So, if your heart is not healthy it will affect your metabolism and bad metabolism rate is the reason of your overweight if your body. Because the amount of calories should burned every day cannot be burned and it makes our body overweight. The extra weight of the body makes the symptoms of asthma worse. So a healthy diet can help you with both reasons.

Need of a diet to normalize metabolism rate

Overweight is a risk factor for asthma. It triggers the symptoms of asthma and also it makes the current health condition worse. The higher metabolism the more your body will burn calories and your body will get rid of unwanted fatigue. So a healthy diet can improve your metabolism rate as well as other health conditions. A healthy diet includes

  • Vitamin D-rich foods
  • Beta carotene-rich vegetables
  • Magnesium-rich foods

No specific diet is there for asthma. This diet can improve your overall health.

  • Vitamin D: Eating enough vitamin D will help to reduce the number of asthma attacks.

Sources of vitamin D are: salmon, milk and eggs, fortified orange juice etc.  If you have allergy from eggs, you should stop eating allergic foods right away.

  • Magnesium: It is also another way to reduce the risks of Asthma attacks. Here are foods that contain magnesium:

Spinach, pumpkin seeds, Swiss chard, dark chocolate etc.

  • Beta carotene: It is an antioxidant that converts vitamin A and improves your health significantly. Beta carotene increases the lung capacity. Sometimes proper consumption beta can be very useful to reduce the effects of lung cancer.

Foods that contain beta carotene are: carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, apricots, red and yellow peppers, peas, broccoli etc. Other than these foods, protein rich foods can boost your metabolism and maintains muscle mass

foods rich in iron, zinc will normalizes the function of thyroid, capsicums will help you to increase fat oxidation, the caffeine found in coffee will help your body to increase the amount of calories your body burns every day, cacao have metabolism boosting qualities. There are many other ways apart from ‘foods’ to increase metabolism rate. Foods may increase metabolism rate slightly but if you follow your diet chart regularly you’ll find the changes.

So at the conclusion we learnt that we need a diet to fight asthma along with medications. Asthma itself makes our heart weak. In this situation if we don’t improve our appetite then our overall health will be more and more worse. A proper diet along with exercises or yoga will not only increase the metabolism rate but also will improve the quality of life. Don’t make your diet chart by your own if you are not a professional. Consult your doctor or your dietitian. They will help you out. Maybe you have allergies to some food items. They will check all of your medical history and may recommend you some tests then finally hand you over your diet chart. After a few days which may become the wall between you and asthma.
