Ideally, you should enjoy a healthy body weight according to your BMI. Unfortunately, bad eating habits and adopting a lazy lifestyle have destroyed human health. Now, more people have obesity issues as compared to the past.

Excess body weight is the root cause of major health issues faced by our bodies. We need to understand the intense situation and take healthy steps to control our extra body weight. In this article, I will discuss how excess body weight can generate different health problems.

Causes of Obesity

There are several reasons that can lead to an increase in your body weight.

  • Laziness
  • Eating more junk foods or overeating
  • Hereditary factors
  • Physiological and environmental factors
  • Doing fewer physical activities like not exercising regularly
  • More sitting period

Weight and Your Health

Carrying extra weight with you not only makes you feel ashamed in your social circle but also leads to many serious health problems. Being obese can increase the risk of being ill often. This could also lead to many critical health situations like heart disease, strokes, cancer, diabetes, depression, high blood pressure, fatty liver, and much more.

Being overweight can also lead to many different diseases that can make you feel awful. You may face varicose vein issues on your legs due to your extra body weight, and you may need varicose vein treatment to get rid of your enlarged veins.

Weight and Your Lower Body Joints

Increased weight can lead to many bone and joint issues, especially your lower body parts, which get more damaged because of being overweight. As your lower body lifts your whole body weight, it gets wear and tear with time if it is burdened more.

Your hips and knees may suffer a lot because of extra weight. They get more strained and stiff. You may face chronic pain in your hips and other joints. This can also lead to a critical situation, and you may need to have hip replacement surgery to enjoy a better life and be comfortable to move. You may also suffer from pain in your back, feet, and ankles because of being obese.

Risk of Shorter Lifespan

Being overweight is not a healthy sign to enjoy a good life. People with extra body mass generally live shorter lives. Your life becomes a challenge for you if you gain much additional weight, and this condition could be more crucial if your weight keeps increasing to an alarming state. Obesity can cut off many years of your actual life by making you ill frequently.

Much research has been done in this regard, and the results clearly show how obesity increases the risk of death along with increasing body weight.

Body Weight and Mental Health

Your body weight can affect your mental health in complex ways; you may feel reluctant to meet your relatives and friends after getting a visible change in your body weight. This situation can lead to stress issues initially, and you may have to experience depression. This situation may lead to severe factors later on.
