HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN E-LEARNING SYSTEM

E-learning platforms have been part of our lives for a long time now. People have been using them to upgrade their skills and learn new ones for quite some time. But thanks to the pandemic, we are seeing e-learning websites from an entirely different perspective. The pandemic has changed everything about our lives. It has impacted the way we eat, the way we sleep, the way we work, and the way we live. Due to this factor, people are now trying to find new and better ways to educate themselves as well as their students.

As far as education is concerned, we don’t have to come up with something new and innovative. We already have a system in place. E-learning has proven itself as a solid and foolproof way to educate our young ones and more.

Types of E-Learning Platforms

There are three distinct types of e-learning platforms that you can create.

  • First, there are the open-source online platforms that we all know and love. You can find a plethora of free as well as paid short-courses, degrees, and other programmes to enhance your skills. They provide almost all the types of resources that you need.
  • Then there are the online learning marketplaces like Udemy, Udacity, Coursera, and EdX, to name a few. They offer courses from different universities and institutes.
  • The third type of e-learning platforms are the custom-built management systems that you create for your organization. They have a specific type of knowledge to offer related to the industry that your organization is in.

Steps of Creating Your Own E-Learning Platform

Depending on the type of platform that you want to go for, the creation steps change. But there are a few steps that are the same for all platforms. The following are the major steps that you will have to take to create and successfully run your own e-learning website.

#1: Content Creation

The very first step in creating an e-learning platform is to come up with the content that you will be providing. You should have a plan of how you are going to be teaching the subjects or topics. Once the planning is in place, you have to start creating the content. This will include video lessons, audio lessons, books, eBooks, and more. Make sure that you pack all the information that you can into your lessons without turning them into a boring lecture.

Once the content is created, you will have to prepare the assessments to find out if the students have really learned the topic. These can be quizzes for each lesson or more.

#2: Finding a Winning Team

This is the tricky part. There are all sorts of companies out there that promise you the moon and deliver nothing. You have to find a good application development company that is reliable and experienced in these matters. These are highly skilled and creative people who will be able to take your idea and turn it into reality.

How can you find such companies?

  • Go to their websites and read reviews that the customers have left.
  • Talk to them and find out all you can. See if they have already worked on a project like this. How much do they know about an e-learning platform?
  • You can even go to websites like Clutch and more where clients leave reviews of companies and check their portfolio. These are the sites where the client leaves straightforward, honest, and brutal reviews and they can show you whether a company is all that it says it is or not.

#3: Platform Development

Once you have signed on a good app development company, it is time to start the development. Make sure that you clearly communicate your requirements to the team so they know what they are doing. They will work with you throughout the process and keep you in the loop at all times. Make sure that you send them detailed feedback. Once they are done, they will usually send you a prototype of your platform. It will contain all the basic elements that you can check.

#4: Launch

Once you have checked the demo and are happy with it, you will be ready to launch the final product. Share it with a few colleagues and others so they can check it out and share their experiences with you. They can make suggestions, send advice, or point out some errors. If there is some final tweaking to be done, do it before you start to market it publicly.

#5: Collaborate

In the beginning, you will have to create a network of resources like schools, universities, and other institutes that are willing to use your platform to offer their courses. This way you can offer your clients a rich base of learning content. The more content you have, the more people you can attract.

Conclusion

Due to the pandemic, the importance of online learning platforms has skyrocketed. If you create your e-learning platform according to the tips mentioned above, you can really provide your students with valuable content and turn your platform into a profitable endeavour.
