For those of you who don’t know, monroe sports center is a basketball arena that was built in the 1980s that is the home of the men’s basketball team at the Monroe Community College. The arena was named after basketball legend and coach Earl Monroe.
Although the Monroe Community College basketball team has been playing there for more than 20 years, the arena has only had a few owners, none of whom have been very fond of the basketball team. Earl Monroe was a huge basketball fan, and he made sure his team was represented in every arena they played.
It’s not exactly a popular venue, so when the owner, Wayne Tippett, decided to rent it out for $40 million, he immediately needed a new basketball team. A new team at the Monroe Community College, however, would have been a much more unusual move. The only team that Monroe Community College has been playing in the city is the team that the school has in the men’s basketball league.
Earl Monroe wasn’t the only basketball fan Earl Monroe had in mind. He had a few friends who wanted a basketball team too, and soon his dreams of a new school were coming true. But before the new team could be built, it was time to start fundraising to pay for a new gym and gymnasium. After the basketball team and the new gym were completed, the first step in the process was to get a basketball court out of the ground.
I wouldn’t say that the basketball court is “built out” as much as the foundation of the gym is built out. So I think it’s appropriate that Earl Monroe is the first person to build the facility on top of a basketball court.
I don’t know if its just me, or if the new basketball court is not what most basketball fan expect from this site, but I think this is what alot of people expect. I am amazed that they make a basketball court out of the ground and are still making money.
I would have to say that I think it’s kind of stupid to make a basketball court out of a basketball court. I know that when you build something from nothing, its not going to be as cool as it could be, but still its still a basketball court.
Like most major construction projects the Monroe Sports Center isn’t about building a basketball court (although it could be argued that it would be). The site is primarily about the sports and entertainment opportunities it offers. In fact, the center is so successful that it continues to attract visitors. Now, it is also the site of a basketball court.
