Union Hills is an up-and-coming neighborhood in the city, which means that they’ve opened a number of other bars in the area, which is generally good news.
The last time we were in Union Hills was at a Bar Tender. It was a little bit of a drive from downtown, and it was one of the few bars to remain in the exact same location since the late ’80s. The last time we were in the area was at the same Bar Tender, which was about a mile away, if you don’t count the drive. We were there for a wedding reception in the mid 2000s.
The City of Miami Beach has several neighborhoods, and the one most relevant to our story is the federal way, which is a residential area south of downtown. It’s a very different type of neighborhood from the rest of the city. It’s a lot more residential, and people tend to live there, which makes it more expensive. Like most of Miami Beach, the federal way is a very diverse place.
Like a lot of things that make Miami Beach unique, we found the federal way a very interesting neighborhood. The streets are pretty narrow and winding, so you have to walk a lot to get around, but this is where the beach goes to die. The water is very warm, and people actually get to swim in it. Also, in this neighborhood, people tend to live on very low-yield property.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been stopped at the light when I wanted to turn left and go to a bar instead of turning right and going to a restaurant. Some people don’t care, but I am one of them. I’m a huge fan of neighborhood bars, they’re usually the only place you can find an actual person.
Not only is this what bar patrons look like when they’re not looking at you, but it’s also what they look like when they are looking at you. It’s a safe bet that you’re going to be noticed when you’re standing out there at the edge of a busy street. If you’re not, you might want to turn off your flashlight when you’re in a car.
