I wanted to have a link to an article I read recently in the NY Times on the topic of sports clips and in particular the value of sports clips in the construction industry. This is a great article that really covers the whole idea of the value of sports clips and what they can teach us about our industry.

The question is, do you need to be a huge sports fan to be a successful professional athlete? Or does athletics have more value in the construction industry than it does in other industries? I don’t know, but I would guess that while I’m not a huge fan of sports (I’m actually the only guy in the office who watches those things that’s not a professional athlete), I’m more interested in what sports can teach us about construction.

I think that athletics does have value for the construction industry. We don’t need to be a sports fan to be a successful pro athlete. A lot of people in construction are fans, but they also do a lot of other things, like work for a lot of different companies, that are just as important as being a professional athlete. They also have their own social lives, like a spouse, a parent, or an employee, etc.
