When I was 10 my mother would come over and we would color together. It was my first “adult coloring book”. We would color each other’s faces and names and I would draw my mom’s. It was my first time coloring in general, but I always loved it. It was like making art for the first time. I was drawn to it.
Our parents were very strict when it came to coloring, and I think that’s what drew me to coloring. It was the same thing that drew me to rock climbing. I had absolutely no interest in the two things from the minute I was a kid. I just loved to do it. I think it was because I felt like I didn’t have to think about anything, and that it was the only thing that I could be completely happy about.
I’m not a fan of writing in other people’s words. It’s a waste of time. I’d rather just make my own stuff, so that I can make better stuff. Of course, I’d never admit that, because then I would have to admit that I’m not good at it either.
