One of the biggest challenges that I had with my first book was that I was using a lot of jargon and had the book in my hands for several weeks. At one point I was told that it was a “must read book that will help me develop my skills as a writer.” While I enjoyed it, I could tell that this was not the message that I wanted to be conveyed.

We’ve all been there. I’ve been talking about my writing and life in general for weeks at a time and people are like, “Oh, I’m glad you’re doing that, but I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I thought the same thing about my first book.

One of the reasons I read a lot of non-fiction is because I like to find out more about the topics I write about. I’ve always found that if I had the book in hand, I could go back and re-read the same material over and over again. And that’s exactly what I did when I had this book in my hands. I read the same section over and over again. I re-read the same chapter over and over again.

The idea is that our brains tend to retain memories best when we’re in a high-stress environment for a short period of time. This is because we don’t have the same amount of attention to pay at that moment as we do when we’re not stressed. That being said, the best way to combat this is to create a story that makes you feel as though you’re in a high-stress situation.

For instance, I have a friend who had to go into a hospital for a spinal surgery. The surgery was so intensive that he lost a lot of blood and he had to take a huge dose of medication. This caused him to be really tired and anxious. Once he was out of the hospital he went back to his normal self again. He said that the story made him feel so much better and that it was a great way to de-stress.

This might sound a bit extreme, but there’s a lot of research that shows that we can actually control our emotions. For instance, one study showed that certain foods and other things that we eat can actually change our emotional response. As a result, we can regulate a myriad of things for our own sake, but we can also control our emotions.
